I think that technology games for students are a great idea as long as there is some educational meaning behind them. I think they are great because the students think they are playing a game not knowing that they may be learning or practicing some skills that they have already learned. Also I think that certain subjects need some help making them interesting for the students, for example, I might have benefitted from playing math games, i found the subject boring and therefore did not try as hard in it. I always loved playing flash cards but with the younger generations being surrounded by so much technology, things like flash cards might seem boring to them. I think that maybe even things like flash cards on the computer may even be a little better.
Plus when students are playing tech. games they are also practicing their computer skills. This to me seems very important because since technology is constantly changing and advancing then there will be a constant need for student to know how to use them. This way if they already know how to use them then when they do change it will be much easier to learn than it would be if they were just starting out on the new advanced computers.
I agree its neat to see them learning through a game and they don't even know it, they think it is just plat time. And keeping them involved with the computers does keep them up on technology. Good ideas!!

ReplyDeleteI agree with you that games are an exciting yet different way for students to learn. They get the chance to work with computers to develop their computer skills while still learning.
