Bad things about using games....

There are some bad things about using educational tech. games that go along with the good. Some things that the teacher will have to make sure of is that the games that are chosen have enough educational value to make them and good use of time. Otherwise the students may be having fun but there will be nothing gained by playing them.

Also the teacher may have to do a lot of research on each game before they introduce them to the class. They might even have to try and play the games to once again make sure that there is enough value in them. Also the teacher may run into problems with having the students cooperate with each other while using the games. They may have issues dealing with who gets to play the game first if there is only one copy of the game.

Ways to use the games in the classroom...

There are many different ways that a teacher can incorporate the tech games into their classroom. For example, if the teacher has found a great game that they students can do that is on the internet then they could go to a computer lab (if there are not enough computers for all the students) and they could play the game for a day instead of having a lecture on it. 

Also if a teacher has found some great games then the students could play them during some down time. This is a great way to encourage the students to get their homework done in class, by giving them an incentive. Meanwhile they will be continuing the lesson by playing the game.

Why I think games are a good idea....

I think that technology games for students are a great idea as long as there is some educational meaning behind them. I think they are great because the students think they are playing a game not knowing that they may be learning or practicing some skills that they have already learned. Also I think that certain subjects need some help making them interesting for the students, for example, I might have benefitted from playing math games, i found the subject boring and therefore did not try as hard in it. I always loved playing flash cards but with the younger generations being surrounded by so much technology, things like flash cards might seem boring to them. I think that maybe even things like flash cards on the computer may even be a little better.

 Plus when students are playing tech. games they are also practicing their computer skills. This to me seems very important because since technology is constantly changing and advancing then there will be a constant need for student to know how to use them. This way if they already know how to use them then when they do change it will be much easier to learn than it would be if they were just starting out on the new advanced computers.
